A group of 8 experts went to the College of Art of Taiyuan University of Technology to evaluate and inspect the qualification of cultural relics restoration,which includes Cheng Shulin,member of leading Party group and deputy director of Shanxi Cultural Relics Bureau,Wang Zhenhua, director of cultural relics resources department (administrative examination and approval department), Zhang Xiaoqiang, director of Museum and social cultural relics department, Guo Zhiyong, director of cultural relics protection and Research Department of Shanxi Museum, Researcher Li Yong and Zeng Zhaodong.
The group of Director Chen visited the cultural relics restoration laboratory along with ceramic workshop and sculpture workshop,and also made an detailed investigation of the repair process of stone cultural relics, wooden cultural relics, paper cultural relics, ceramic glass in the art heritage research center of College of Art.Our experts inquired in detail about the regulations of the reception and transfer of cultural relics, the gauging and analysis of cultural relics, and how to manage the cultural relics ontology and restoration materials.They also knew of some related matters like teaching and scientific research specimens of cultural relics and academic collation,concurrently discussed the dating and restoration techniques of Han Dynasty portrait bricks, Ming and Qing Dynasties ceramics and ancient calligraphy and paintings and other ancient works.
President Zhao Hui made an omnidirectional report about the College of Art devoting to the protection and restoration of cultural relics for over twenty years,and emphasized relics protection scientific research team and restoration team,hardware condition such as equipment of places for the protection and restoration of cultural relics,cultural relics safety conditions,meanwhile the regulatory regime and system. Zhao introduced the construction situation of Shanxi Cultural Relics Protection and Scientific Research Base approved by Shanxi Cultural Relics Bureau at the same time,who also announced the preparation of Shanxi Research Institute of Cultural Relics and Technology,which was set up by the school and the bureau.
Deputy directorCheng Shulin spoke highly of the cultural relics protecting work of the College of Art at the symposium.“To begin with,we should appreciate that Taiyuan University of Technology had been supporting our protection of cultural relics of Shanxi Province for so many years,and I completely did not expect that you got such strength and good conditions, so rich experience in the restoration of cultural relics,thus we will consider to grant you the restoration of cultural relics firstly outside our own bureau.”,he said,“We hope that you can guarantee a good platform for scientific research and technology integration of cultural relics protection in Shanxi Province and build up Research Institute of Cultural Relics and Technology as soon as possible,cooperated by our school and Shanxi Province.It is hoped that you can undertake significant projects and overcome technical obstacles in the restoration of cultural relics.We will be supporting you to accomplish projects and apply for the national cultural relic protection awards.From the situation of Shanxi and even the whole China,there is a deficiency of talents in cultural relics appraisal and cultural relics restoration.College of Art of Taiyuan University of Technology ought to give full play to your advantages to foster more talents for the cultural relics industry. Wang Zhenhua, director of cultural relics resources department (administrative examination and approval department)and Zhang Xiaoqiang, director of Museum and social cultural relics department appreciated these achievements on protecting ,researching and restoration cultural relics that had been done by the College of Art and pointed out something in the meantime.“Taiyuan University of Technology is supposed to focus on the pivotal technique of the protection and restoration of cultural relics after obtaining the repair qualification instead of satisfying with average work of restoration.It needs to undertake symbolic projects forwardly and also provide typical cases for the industry and set a benchmark.”
Guo Zhiyong, director of cultural relics protection and Research Department of Shanxi Museum, Researcher Li Yong and Zeng Zhaodong had a deep exchange of the concept, materials, technology and procedures of cultural relics restoration with President Zhao Hui and teachers from department of cultural heritage,who exchanged views on scientific research on the protection and restoration, teaching and practice of cultural relics, and reached cooperation intentions.
Deputy director Cheng Shulin offered guiding suggestions on the deep cooperation among Shanxi Museum,Shanxi Institute of Ancient Architecture and Taiyuan University of Technology,pushing double employment and building an art museum.
